With over 800 AI models powering global e-commerce platforms, Prosus knows that robust infrastructure is the backbone of fast, effective, and scalable AI products. But as production traffic increased, Paul van der Boor, Vice President of AI, and Andrii Myhal, Senior Software Engineer, recognized that their existing setup needed to evolve.

For years, Andrii and his team used an internal sandbox provisioning system. Every time an AI agent ran an application, this tool created an ephemeral sandbox to execute the code with real-time output streaming. That way, their AI products delivered the expected results without compromising system integrity, exposing sensitive user data, or making unauthorized network calls.

This internal solution enabled Andrii’s developers to iterate and push innovative features to market. But scaling it across their models came with significant operational overhead, slowing down the development cycle and momentum.

As a small team managing global infrastructure, Andrii and his developers spent valuable time debugging, implementing security updates, and managing technical debt. "Most of our capacity was going to maintenance instead of building and shipping features to our users," he highlights.

As traffic grew, this inefficiency only compounded. Operating from Europe while serving a significant Latin American user base meant peak traffic occurred during off-hours. “We started putting in even more hours configuring and testing to ensure our system would run without interruption,” explains Andrii.

He and Paul knew something had to change. With weekly infrastructure maintenance becoming the norm, they realized that scaling their tool in-house would require more resources than adopting a ready-made solution.
